Chase Amick, better known as 6 Dogs, was born in 1999. He was reared in a conservative Christian home and grew up in different parts of Georgia. As a youngster, he started rapping and recording his own original songs, but kept them hidden from his strict religious mother, with whom he still shared a home. In late 2016, he released a few songs on SoundCloud, one of which, “Flossing,” became viral. Amick couldn’t hide his growing popularity from his mother for long while he was still 17, attending to high school, and living under his parents’ roof, and when she found out about his music and rapper lifestyle, she grounded him permanently. He was still permitted to record, and in March of 2017, he released “Faygo Dreams,” a druggy, trap-inflected song that was streamed millions of times within a few months of its release. With additional songs, he continued to explore his darker sound, including “Chutup” in the summer of 2017, and the 6 Wolves EP in 2018, he collaborated with producer Danny Wolf. He released a flurry of songs in 2019, including “Spooky,” “Max Keeble,” and “Drifting,” which featured Pretty Pacc. At the age of 21, six dogs committed suicide on January 26, 2024.
